Businesses, Individuals take Spotlight during Chamber Banquet


The Floyd County Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards banquet May 9, honoring several local businesses and individuals.

Daffodils Boutique was named Business of the year, while Greg Wilson, of First Commonwealth Bank, took home Business person of the Year award. Big Sandy Community & Technical College President Dr. George Edwards was named Floyd Countian of the Year.
Others receiving awards included: Hall of Fame: Dick Clark, of Hall & Clark Insurance Horizon Award: Genesis Billing Eco-Friendly Partner Award: Jean Rosenberg, of breathe Easy Floyd County Coalition Excellence Award: Patty Hatfield, of BB&T Community Service Award: Floyd County Health Department Special Recognition: Eula Hall, founder of the Mud Creek Clinic, now named the Eula hall Health Center Community Contribution Award: Big Sandy Area Development District Chamber Partner in Education: St Joseph – Martin Special Thanks: Judge Executive R.D. Doc Marshall
Special tributes were paid to Bill Duke, Harold Cooley and Dr. Alan Joe Hyden, by Dr. George Edwards, Missy Allen and Dr. S Reddy, respectively.
Finally, nine people were recognized for completing the Leadership Floyd County program. The nine were: Nina Hamilton, Citizens National Bank Josh Johnson, Highlands Health System
