Chamber honors Business and Community Leaders
Every year the Floyd County Chamber of Commerce recognizes the accomplishments of businesses and community leaders in Floyd County. On May 1, the Chamber held its annual awards banquet at the Wilkinson-Stumbo Convention Center celebrating the Chamber’s 50th anniversary.
During the 50th anniversary celebration, individuals and organizations who demonstrated business excellence and community service throughout the past year were acknowledged. In addition to the awards, the Chamber Board of Directors were installed, the Leadership Floyd County Class of 2014 was recognized and past Floyd County Chamber chairs were honored.
Award winners included:
Business of the Year – Pop’s Chevrolet Buick Cadillac
Business Person of the Year – Kindra Horne Baker (Daffodils)
Horizon Award – Lizzy B’s Café & Bakery
Floyd Countian of the Year – Sandy Runyon (Big Sandy ADD)
Community Service Award – St. Vincent Mission
Partner in Education – Carl D. Perkins Job Corps
Hall of Fame – John David Caudill
Special Thanks – Skip Holmes (Fairway Outdoor Advertising)
Chamber Excellence Award – Michelle Staniford (BB&T)
Special Tributes – Kelly Moore, Wes Blackburn & Dr. Mahendra Varia (Kelly Moore family not picture)
The event featured entertainment by Haley Sullivan and Clarke Sexton co-winners of the Big Sandy Idol competition.
“We are so honored to award and pay tribute to some of our outstanding business organizations and citizens. We are truly blessed to live and work in an area with such dedication and pride,” stated Kathy King Allen, Executive Director Floyd County Chamber. “We had a great turnout and we certainly appreciate everyone who attended the banquet to honor these individuals and to help us celebrate the Chamber’s 50th anniversary.”
